Square Enix and United Front Games has finally rolled out their latest downloadable content for Sleeping Dogs yesterday. The Zodiac Tournament DLC is said to add a new island to the game, as Wei Shen is invited for an exclusive fighting tournament help away from Hong Kong. It will also bring in new fight arenas, enemies, bosses, outfits and story-ending cut scenes.
It is now available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC via download, which can be found on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, PlayStation Network, and Steam respectively.
More About Sleeping Dogs: Zodiac Tournament
The DLC’s story revolves around Wei Shen being invited to an exclusive combat tournament, which will be held in a hidden island off the coast of Hong Kong. He will face the ultimate test of his mastery of martial arts, taking his opponents in a fight to the end.
Set in a remote Zodiac Island, a series of ancient arenas will be hosted in a crumbling temple complex, with each stage more difficult and deadly than the previous one. In fact, Wei Shen will be distracted in avoiding deadly fire pits and spike-clad ceilings while collecting cold-blooded killers from every discipline of melee combat.
That’s why Wei Shen must use his full move set, together with the new ones that he picked along the way, to defeat all of his opponents—including the big boss. The DLC is indeed inviting players to become the dragon and unleash their fist of fury.
Gameplay and Possible Sequel
Sleeping Dogs’ core gameplay gives players an open environment wherein they can move freely. It is played as an over-the-shoulder, third-person perspective, and it is an action-adventure game with role playing elements.
The player has the ability to control Wei Shen, a Chinese-American police officer who goes undercover to infiltrate the Sun On Yee Triad. Shen also has the ability to walk, run, jump, climb over obstacles and swim. He can also use weapons and martial arts in combat. He can also drive various vehicles including cars, boats, and motorcycles.
As to whether will have a sequel or not, game producer Dan Sochan said in an interview with Official PlayStation Magizine UK last October that the game has a potential to become a franchise.
I can’t really comment on a sequel right now. Our main focus is on putting put quality DLC so people see value and continue to want to show interest in the franchise. Then we can evaluate and look at it at that point.
Sleeping Dogs is now available for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. On the other hand, the Zodiac Tournament DLC can be purchased for 400 Microsoft Points at the Xbox LIVE Marketplace; and $4.99 at the PlayStation Network and Steam.
