After a long time of waiting, it was reported that Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will have an official London retail launch next week. The event is slated on November 12, Monday at 10 PM at HMV Oxford Street. Afterwards, the game will go on sale at 12:01 AM on Tuesday morning.
Black Ops 2 London Retail Launch—What to Expect
It is expected that up to 1,000 players and fans will attend what the industry pundits predict will be the “biggest entertainment launch of 2012.”
Black Ops 2’s official retail launch will feature developer product signings, multiplayer tournaments with prizes at stake, as well as a “Zombie but stop featuring props from the game as well as in store Zombie invasion”.
What makes this upcoming event cool? Those who will attend will receive “collectible goody bags”. As stated by HVM’s Category Manager for Games Andy Pinder:
This is undoubtedly the games release of the year, which is great news not just for fans but retailers alike as we head into Christmas.
Black Ops 2 Leaked to Torrent Sites
In another Black Ops 2 news, it was reported that the game’s Xbox 360 and PC versions have been uploaded to torrent sites a week prior to its release. In relation to this, some users claim that the Black Ops 2 in console is the real deal.
For more than a week now, a lot of poor quality, user-made videos have been taking rounds over the Internet. That is after it was reported that some European retailers had broken the shooter’s street date by selling copies ahead of its official release. There were even YouTube videos that showcase the campaign gameplay, although the Zombies footage has been proven popular.
Activision declined to comment on the issue, while Treyarch game design director David Vonderhaar responded to the growing number of gameplay video that were posted online. As posted on his Twitter account:
I’m really glad people are excited for the game. Legit streams coming up later this week and early next. Watch this space.
He also added that if users are going to livestream the game early, they “could at least be good at it”.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is the ninth game in the franchise, and a sequel to 2012 game Call of Duty: Black Ops. It will be available on November 13 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows.
