During the San Diego Comic-Con yesterday, Warner Bros. Interactive revealed that Nightwing and Cyborg will be added to the roster of NetherRealm Studio’s upcoming DC Universe fighting game, Injustice: Gods Among Us.
Meet Nightwing and Cyborg
The new characters have very different fighting styles. As a weapon-based character, Nightwing has a staff that has an extended reach for sweeping and poking attacks. He can also leap out of danger when cornered. For Xbox 360 gamers, Nightwing can split his staff into two by pressing the “B” button. In turn, it will increase his speed and jump height, although it will decrease his weapon’s range.
Cyborg, on the other hand, features a powerful hand-to-hand combat and long-range attacks such as lasers, fireballs, and missile strikes. By pressing the “B” button on Xbox 360, the character can bring out his special health regenerative move. This consists of oversized punch followed by screen-filling energy blast.
Developed by NetherRealm Studios, Injustice: Gods Among Us is a fighting game that features the heroes and villains from the DC Universe. Game developer Ed Boon revealed that the characters will fall into two categories: Those who use powers and those who use gadgets.
Superman, for instance, is a power character, which means that he can lift cars and smash it onto his opponents. Meanwhile, a gadget-based character like Batman will slam his opponent’s head on the car instead. There are also characters with multiple fighting styles and special moves.
Each game level will feature destructible environments, as well as multiple areas and objects that the player can use.
Boon also promised that Injustice: Gods Among Us will feature a rich amount of single-player content and layered features for the tournament players. Although there will be restrictions on how violent the game can be, the developer said that he’ll be pushing the “T” rating, replacing violence with “crazy, over-the-top action.”
Nightwing and Cyborg will be added to Injustice’s list of playable characters, which includes Batman, Flash, Harley Quinn, Solomon Grandy, Superman, and Wonder Woman. In relation to this, Lex Luthor was seen in his armored suit with the rest of the characters when the first trailer was released, but it is yet to be known whether he’ll be part of the game or not. Nevertheless, more heroes will be revealed prior to the game’s launching.
Injustice: Gods Among Us will be available for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U on 2013.
