We’ve said this before, and we’ll say it again, there’s probably no piece of your wardrobe that is as important as your shoes. You could have the most expensive designer suit and completely ruin it by the shoes that you have on your feet. But, does that mean that it’s worth spending the extra money on a pair of designer shoes?
Well, it probably depends on the time and place, for starters. You don’t want to wear a cheaper pair of shoes to an interview, business meeting or formal event. As we mentioned earlier, a pair of cheap shoes will tarnish your entire wardrobe, since they give off the impression that you have little regard for your appearance. And, during those important first impressions encounters, that is something that you totally want to avoid.
While it may not make financial sense to initially shell out the cash for designer shoes, like Gucci, Prada, Tod’s, or Salvatore Ferragamo, you should also consider that you pay for you what you get. When it comes to shoes, there’s an old saying, “A good pair of shoes is never cheap and a cheap pair of shoes is never good.”
Sometimes you may be paying extra for the designer label, but remember, those designer labels are expensive for a reason. Designer shoes are made from the finest quality leather, which makes the shoes light and flexible, yet study. Designer shoes also have features such as specially designed heels to reduce pressure on a man’s heel, non-slip soles, added room in the toe box for comfort and anti-sweat soles to reduce sweating and prevent foot odor.
Of course, before the shoes even hit the shelves, there is a team that is researching, designing and making the shoes. This team not only wants to create a fashionable, yet comfortable, pair of shoes, they’re also using hand-crafting techniques. These designers are paid for every pair of shoes that are made, as opposed to, using underpaid labor or machines that are paid off after the first few lines are released.
Those two reasons alone make the price of designer shoes expensive. It takes money to create and produce a quality pair of shoes.
However, that doesn’t mean that a pair of shoes that aren’t from a designer should never be bought. These shoes can be just as comfortable and fashionable as some designer shoes, such as Rockport or Florsheim . In fact, they are probably better for a daily basis, since you won’t feel as bad about wearing them out or getting them wet or dirty.
So. Yes. Designer shoes for men do deserve the price. While it’s a hefty investment, remember, that if you take care of your shoes they can last for years, and you can now find designer shoes on sale or at least favorable prices online. Also, you won’t be embarrassed or under-dressed during certain occasions. But, that doesn’t mean that they should be the only pair of shoes in your closet. Owning a couple of pair “cheaper” shoes can be just as important.
