Handmade Movie Posters from Ghana are a Fanboy’s Dream

I’ve seen a lot of articles about these handmade movie posters from Ghana lately, and well, I couldn’t resist not doing one here.

Why?

Because these are the coolest, creepiest and weirdest movie posters that I’ve ever seen.

Since there weren’t really any movie theaters in Ghana during the 80′s, some clever businessmen took the cinema on the road. They would travel from village to village and set up mobile cinemas using the latest technology, VCR’s.

With the VCR and a projector, people were able to enjoy flicks from all over the world. Films from not only from the U.S., but also Indonesia, Hong Kong, India, Italy and Nigeria made the rounds.

To promote these mobile cinemas, local artists were called in to create movie posters for the feature film, which are just awesome.

What we have here is a gallery of said movie posters.

If you feel so inclined, you can buy one yourself right here. Or, you can check out the book “Extreme Canvas: Movie Poster Paintings from Ghana”.
