It’s a topic regularly discussed, sexual innuendos hidden within animation. Let’s face it, because there’s always been a fair amount of this occurring in everything from comics, cartoons, to kids animated shows and films, it’s bound to be constantly mentioned.
Remember all those inappropriate images that people found in Disney animated films, like the penis in the castle during The Little Mermaid? That example, and so many more, have become some of the more popular urban legends in entertainment. I’m not exactly sure why they happen. Maybe it’s because the artists are bored and are just having some fun. Perhaps, they’re just demented people. Then again, it could be completely innocent, and outsiders just made mountains out of molehills. These innuendos were just situations taken out of context.
A fine example of that are the folks over at Comically Vintage, which caught the attention of my geek meter. The site was started by four people, dubbing themselves “paleocomicologists”, in May of 2009. Since then, their site has grown to over 20,000 subscribers, they’re also on Facebook and Twitter. They’ve added well over 500 pages of vintage comic panels that allude to sexual innuendos and stereotypes, because, you guessed it, they were placed out of context.
So, if you’re looking to kill some time, like I did with several hours of my life, Comically Vintage is well worth it. You’ll seriously get a case of the giggles. Of course, you can also check out the following sites if you want to stumble upon some more sexual innuendos in comics.
