Olivia Wilde is an American actress and model. She began acting in the early 2000s, and has since appeared in a number of film and television parts. Olivia portrays Dr. Remy “Thirteen” Hadley in the TV drama House, and in 2010 starred as Quorra in Tron: Legacy.
Born in New York City on March 10, 1984, Olivia Wilde was christened Olivia Cockburn but changed her family name for acting purposes, she borrowed the last name from Oscar Wilde. She attended Georgetown Day School in Washington, D.C., as well as Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, graduating in 2002. She also attended The Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin, Ireland for a short time.
She has wanted to become an actress since the age of two. Olivia’s first role came in 2003, in the exciting but short-lived TV drama Skin, in which she played Jewel Goldman. She has appeared in the films The Girl Next Door, Alpha Dog, Conversations with Other Women and Turistas. She became known for her role on The O.C. as Alex Kelly.
In 2007, Olivia Wilde was cast in House M.D., playing a young doctor nicknamed “Thirteen” opposite Hugh Laurie. Wilde’s character has a terminal disease, which incites her to engage in casual sex and drug use. She played Quorra in Disney’s Tron: Legacy, which opened on December 17, 2010.
Olivia Wilde jumped into the saddle for director Jon Favreau’s Cowboys & Aliens, a tale of an alien invasion in a 19th century Midwestern town. She played the character named Ella who joins up with mysterious gunslinger in an unlikely uprising against an alien invasion.
