Joseph “Joe” Bastianich, is a restaurateur, a winemaker, author, television personality, a rocker, a runner, a husband, a father and a vineyard owner. Joe was born on September 17, 1968 in Astoria, Queens.
Joe is a judge on the competitive cooking shows, MasterChef and MasterChef Italy. He is the son of Felice Bastianich and Lidia Bastianich. In 1997, Felice and Lidia Bastianich divorced after 31 years of marriage.
Joe is one of the most charismatic personalities in the food and wine world; He is New York-based restaurateur. He loves Italian Culture.
Joe attended Fordham Preparatory School in the Bronx that allowed him to skip the eighth grade. He received his B.A. from Boston College. Joe lives in Greenwich, Connecticut, with his wife Deanna Bistianich and three children, Olivia Bistianich, Miles Bistianich, and Ethan Bistianich.
Joe teamed up with Chef Mario Batali to open Babbo Ristorante e Enoteca and the restaurant earned three stars from The New York Times. Continuing the partnership, the pair opened seven (7) more restaurants in New York City: Lupa, Esca, Casa Mono, Bar Jamón, Otto, Del Posto, and most recently (2010), Eataly.
