Avril Lavigne was born in Belleville, Ontario, Canada, but spent most of her youth in the small town of Napanee, Ontario, Canada. Avril was born on September 27, 1984. She is a Canadian singer-songwriter and she holds the title of Punk Rock Princess.
Avril’s father Jean-Claude Lavigne named her “Avril” after the French word for the month of April. At the age of two, she began singing church songs with her mother Judith-Rosanne “Judy” Lavigne. Her mother Judy recognized her two-year-old daughter’s talents after hearing her sing “Jesus Loves Me” in church. Avril has an older brother, Matthew Lavigne, and a younger sister, Michelle Lavigne.
Avril’s theme is music include messages of self-empowerment from a female or an adolescent view. She was originally pursuing a career in country and folk music, but transitioned into “punk-rock” because of its more lucrative possibilities. One of her songs, “Losing Grip”, is about an ex-boyfriend.
In 2003, Avril received 5 Grammy nominations, including 1 for best new artist. She is good friends with Pink, Vanessa Carlton, and Fefe Dobson. Avril’s ex-husband is Deryck Whibley lead singer and guitarist for the band Sum 41. In 2009 she filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences”.
When Avril first gained publicity, she was known for her tomboyish style, in particular her necktie-and-tank-top combinations. She preferred baggy clothes, skater shoes or Converses, wristbands, and sometimes shoelaces wrapped around her fingers. Avril’s natural hair color is brown and she can play piano, drums and guitar.

Sheesh… what an article. Avril Lavigne is not:
1. Punk
2. Rock
3. I’d be hesitant to call her a princess either as that usually includes the idea of some kind of class which she has shown awfully little.
She can barely play any of the instruments you mentioned, and it would be awfully nice to hear a source for those “friendships”.
