There’s no denying that Marilyn Monroe is one of the most iconic sex symbols ever in pop culture. In fact, we’d go as far to say that she was one of the biggest trendsetters in modern history. We’re talking about the first woman to grace the cover of Playboy all the way back in 1953. The same woman who’s dating life and sexual escapades has become those of legend. And long after her death in 1962, she has remained a frequent source of inspiration in film, TV, music and Megan Fox’s tattoos. However, there may be a new addition to her legendary, and tragic, legacy. Porn star.
The estate of a Spanish man is attempting to sell a porno from 1946 or 1947 that allegedly stars a then unknown, and underage, Norma Jean Baker. The six and a half minute long video is making its way to auction for a starting price of half a million dollars. Monroe experts claim that the video doesn’t star the actress, but, its sellers are insisting that it is indeed the future Marilyn Monroe. Event promoter Mikal Barsa claims that about 600,000 copies of a 16-millimeter version of the same film were sold over a decade ago. Barsa also claims that he’s seen FBI documents during the agency’s investigation of the film, and, that Monroe’s jewelry in the film were the same that she had at the same time.
Celebrities making sex tapes aren’t anything shocking at this point, or new for that matter. For better or worse, celebs, and your average Dick and Jane, have been making them for decades. Rob Lowe’s sex tape almost ran him out of Hollywood in the 80′s. For Pam Anderson, Tommy Lee, Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian their tapes have almost helped elevate their careers. Of course, there are also the vomit inducing tapes from Chyna and one containing Kid Rock and Scott Stapp. Whether you’re a celebrity or not the easy access to camcorders have made making a sex tape practically a common occurrence. Besides homemade pornos, the porn industry in general has become ingrained with our society. So, why would Marilyn Monroe film a porno in the 40’s before she was a star and before porn was widely acceptable?
I guess we can only speculate. We’re not saying that people weren’t having sex and making pornos in the 1940’s. It was just an era when those sorts of things were underground. What would a woman have to gain be starring in one? Perhaps Norma Jean met one of those sleazy producers that we still have today. You know that guy that promises a wide-eyed girl with big ambitions the world if she does him a couple of favors. Maybe filming a sex tape for a guy like that worked. Heck. Maybe that short film catapulted her career after all. Regardless, people will certainly be clamoring to check this tape out if it ever becomes available. Because we’re a deviant society like that.
The auction for the supposed Marilyn Monroe sex tape will take place on August 6 and 7 at the Borges Cultural Centre during the first ever Buenos Aires Film Collecting Fair.
