If you’re eyeing to have a new Acura ZDX, consider visiting the nearest dealer in your place soon. That’s because the car manufacturer announced that it will discontinue the crossover’s production after the 2013 model is released.
The car was first introduced in 2009, and it was reported that the upcoming model will receive a bevy of styling and technology enhancements. As posted on the car manufacturer’s press release, the cease of production for the Acura ZDX was prompted with the company’s desire to focus on new models and core products.
Acura ZDX Signing Off Soon
Sharing a platform with Acura MDX, the all-wheel drive ZDX is said to be sign off soon with a “single, value-added package.” This means that the car will be sold in just one configuration, and it will be packed with luxurious features.
This includes 10-speaker surround sound, eight-inch display with integrated rearview camera system, Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition, Bluetooth HandFreeLink wireless telephone interface, Keyless Access System, dual-zone automatic climate control system, as well as heated and ventilated front seats. The vehicle will also feature safety-oriented technology such as forward-collision and lane-departure-warning systems.
It will also have minor exterior updates, which include a redesigned grille, power-folding, auto-dimming side mirrors, refreshed front and rear parking sensors, and a dark accent on the wheels for a sportier finish.
On the other hand, the car’s interior also receives a new wood trim on the center console and a high-contrast interior option. As stated by Jeff Conrad, Acura’s vice president and general manager:
People shopping for a luxury crossover vehicle will find the Acura ZDX an even more attractive product. Moving forward, we will continue to advance the Acura lineup with a focus on new core models, like the recently redesigned RDX and the upcoming all-new RLX flagship sedan, provide the ideal balance of performance and fuel efficiency that is right for each product and a driving experience that is dynamic and emotional.
Under the Hood
Aside from the mentioned enhancements, the 2013 Acura ZDX will feature an all-aluminum 3.7-liter V-6 engine that produces 300 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. The car’s power is enhanced further by a Sequential SportShift 6-speed automatic transmission, and it also boasts an EPA city/highway/combined fuel mileage rate of 16/23/19 mpg.
The 2013 Acura ZDX will become available on October 19, and it will cost $51,815 with destination charges.
