Two days before it makes its official debut, leaked images of the 2013 Jaguar F-type have surfaced on the Web. In fact, automobile news website TopSpeed shared the first multiple images of the upcoming sports roadster.
Jaguar announced the C-X16 concept during the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. Due to the market’s positive reaction, the car manufacturer decided to offer a production of the car. Thus, the F-type enters the scene. The car will have its official debut on September 27 at the Paris Motor Show, and it is expected to become available in mid-2013.
Features and Specifications
It was reported that the 2013 Jaguar F-type will tout a very aggressive look. A number of the car’s design elements were inspired by the C-X16 concept. This includes the long bonnet and the split air intakes in the front end.
The vehicle will also come with three engines: the all-new, 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine and the existing supercharged, 5.0-liter V8 engine. The former can produce either 340 or 380 hp, while the latter is available for the R version.
All engine options will drive the sports roadster’s rear wheels via an eight-speed transmission. The much-awaited 2013 Jaguar F-type will also be equipped with Stop/Start technology.
Jaguar also added that the F-type will be a two-seater convertible, and it will boast an all aluminum construction. There were also claims that the vehicle will be priced less than the current XK or around $85,000. Adrian Hallmark, the automaker’s global brand director, also pointed out:
That car will be called the F-type, and it will be unveiled in production form later this year. The core appeal of Jaguar’s cars is their sporting heart, and that heart will beat stronger than ever before in the F-type. Its development is a vivid representation of the confidence and ambition of the Jaguar brand, and the desire amongst our engineers and design team to produce a world-leader in a market segment that we have been absent from far too long. But no longer—the F-type is coming.
Hallmark also added that the unveiling of 2013 Jaguar F-type in Paris will be a significant day for the company. It will mark the car manufacturer’s return to the sports car market, “a market it originally helped to create.”
Prior to this, Jaguar released two new video teasers in response to the excitement that people are showing towards the upcoming F-type. The video showcases the sports roadster at the Italy’s Nardo high-speed test track and at the Nurburgring race track in Germany. Watch one of them here:
